With a 43.5mm wide highly polished steel case, Breitling fans will feel at home with the shiny fit and finish. The textured dial will be available in black, silver, or gray. In addition to the rubber strap with portholes, there will also be a metal bracelet and leather or crocodile strap available to match the watch. This is up there with the true professional instruments that Breitling offers, but good enough for everyday use for any guy who likes the look of the watch. You can see that the rear of the watch has one of those famous turbine engravings that Breitling watches are known for. Pretty awesome if you ask me. I would guess price is about ,000 - ,000 soon.
Most of the watches are automatics with Soprod movements specially made for Robert Lighton. The styles are all classic, and you can get watches in gold (or white gold), and in sterling silver for under ,000. That's right! The timepieces are for men and women, and there are also lots of watches with precious gem set bezels. The shapes are all classic, and the components of the watches are good quality including sapphire crystals, and leather or alligator straps.
The pictured Linde Werdelin 3-Timer watch is in 18k rose gold with a DLC coated steel bezel. It is my choice option, and a beautiful timepiece. Don't you love that friendly little integrated date window? Available soon, prices start at about 4,000 Euros. Visit Linde Werdelin here for more information or to purchase.
The Nettuno Chronograph is fitted with a hardy ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic movement in a 40mm wide case. This is of the more soberly sized diver's watches out there that are still professional grade in my opinion. The new Bi-Color edition shares all the great parts of the original Nettuno Chronograph but with the new color options,. There is also the special textured black leather strap with contrast stitching that fits so well with the look of the case. A metal bracelet is of course available. You'll appreciate that the Nettuno Chronograph is a function first watch. Meaning that things are designed so that watch is easy to read and functional. Thus, looking at the dials and hands of the watch indicates that they were designed to be relied upon, rather than merely for style (that the watch looks nice is good too). Marcello C. is known for their attention to details. A good example of this is that this new Bi-Color collection of Nettuno Chronograph watches uses a black colored date disc rather than the standard white. This is a small touch, but really helps give the Bi-Color versions of the watch their own character apart from the standard models. The watch is a true diver and water resistant to 300 meters. Overall it is an excellent watch. The price for the standard version of the Marcello C. Nettuno Chronograph is about ,300 (a good value). I expect that the Nettuno Bi-Color Chronograph will be just a bit more, but not significantly much. Not sure about availability yet, but certainly contact Marcello C. watches here for more information about pricing and availability.
This might be the first time you are looking at two genuine Chinese tourbillon movement watches. Real tourbillon movements with original designs. Here are some basic specs straight from Longio:
The watch dial is the major attraction and is constructed from something called Aventurine, which is a type of glass made with small copper particles inside. The copper particles inside of the man-made glass provide the incredible glitter look. Here is a bit about Aventurine directly from Blu. Note that the Aventurine used in the Galaxy watch is made in the Murano region of Italy:
Molly McDermott: Tell me how your profession and talent has enhanced and enabled your love of watches?
David Pittsinger: Opera singers, by trade, travel the world and visit old cities, flush with culture and tradition. Spending time in places and cities with deep watch cultures has deepened my love and respect and understanding of this traditional artform.
The movement is one of the best in the industry. It is the Blancpain Calibre 1315. There is also the GMT model with the 5215 movement. The automatic mechanical movement is specially made for sports watches. This basically means that it has lots of shock resistance. It further has a whopping 5 days (120 hours) of power reserve through three mainspring barrels! That is a lot. well over 2-3 times what you see in most similar movements. Rare for a 1000 meter water resistant watch is the sapphire movement window on the caseback. The rotor you will see is styled after a boat propeller, which is appropriate. The movement also features a fast date adjust at midnight. This basically means that the date window immediately moves to the next date at midnight, rather than slowly move over an hour or so. You can also manually adjust the date both ahead and behind. A nice touch for a luxury watch.
I am surprised by this watch actually. The aggressive styling is pretty cool looking. Certainly a departure from the blase Chinese designed watches we've come to easily disregard. It has an attractive but simple modern appeal, and would standout nicely. The case itself is a large 47mm wide, and comes with the metal bracelet and rubber strap (24mm wide). It isn't going to win any design awards, but it isn't half bad. The bracelet looks interesting as well, something I'd like to inspect a bit more. Inside the watch is the SG3829 automatic mechanical tourbillon movement. The tourbillon is an actual tourbillon as you'd come to expect, and it rotates once each 60 seconds. The movement is acceptable, and interesting to view. It doesn't have nearly the refinement of a Swiss or German movement, but again, think of the cost. Accuracy is also less that its European counterparts, but not by as much as you'd think. It took the Europeans how long to get a decent tourbillon movement into a watch? Decades probably. And in just a few years here is China with their own. China will never beat Europe when it comes to quality or refinement, but it will always beat them when it comes to speed - just a different mentality at work.
And as we're all motivated by cost comparisons, the watches are listed within pricing groups, for your convenience.
Like the mask, the Endurer Chronsprint watch has an oval shaped face and has horizontal bar texturing on the face. The mix of curves and straight lines suggest the look of the mask, though it is not so close to the mask that the untrained eye would make the connection. Think of it as a thematic similarity with Daniel Roth being open and excited about the fact that mask was a major design influence of the watch. It does help that Daniel Roth watch cases are typically shaped in this manner, so it was not a huge stretch for the Endurer Chronosprint.
I will tell you a bit about AskMen.com if you aren't familiar with it. It is a portal for all things "men." Parts of it are like a higher-brow Maxim magazine, other parts discuss issues related living, health, finance, fashion (where you'll find the watch reviews), and plenty of other topics for men of all interests, ages, and backgrounds. AskMen.com is part of IGN Entertainment, which is part of Fox Interactive Media. I've always enjoyed their particular "to the point" take on watch reviews. The format is more fashion-oriented than gadget-oriented. It was a welcome effort having to adapt my writing style to conform with how AskMen likes to review watches. Unlike my typical method of presenting an essay like discussion of watches, AskMen breaks up watch reviews into three quick sections going over the "AM (AskMen) Take", "Uniqueness", and "Durability" of the watches. Also new for me is a scoring system where watches are judged in terms of their uniqueness and durability.
