The first thing you should know is that this watch winder is referred to as "programmable." Unlike some other watch winders it has more than an "on" and "off" switch. Rather, you have an interesting range of settings and options that are functional or aesthetic related. Part of the character of this winder involves all the controls being on an exposed circuit board. The two backlit LCD screens, lights, and buttons are all on the board itself. They are labeled though, and the Futura comes with instructions (that actually sound as though they were written by a human being) that explain how everything works pretty well.
Just getting the watch to accomplish the goal of being able to survive that ridiculous amount of pressure and force on the case is impressive enough. I would have been happy and excited about the Guinness world record that the watch has alone, if that was all the watch has - but there is so much more to this watch than just having an impressive record. CX didn't stop at just incredible pressure resistance - oh no. In fact, aside from the incredible dimensions and capacity of the 20,000 Feet Diver, it is also one of the best functioning and made watches that I've had the pleasure of reviewing. Everything about it is refined and smooth in execution. From the quality of the watch and bracelet, to the operation of the features on the watch. Plus, the watch is a dedicated tool above everything else. This is really what people expect when they invest in a Swiss watch, and I am really proud to share it with you.
Like many BRM watches, the lugs are not only drilled but articulate for a better fit on your wrist. The dials of the watch are each a separate tone with emphasis on classic racing car gauges where metal was the material of choice. You can choose what the primary time is, while the other two dials serve as alternative timezones. Would make a good travel watch. BRM watches use a lot of high quality milled steel. You can tell that all the parts of obviously custom made by this unique French watch maker.

With a very involved watchband, I love that Gucci kept the dial face simple. There are no hour or minute indicators, just the Gucci logo and hour/minute hands. This simplistic take on time does keep in line with the image of Gucci. And with the face of the watch blending in with the Marina links, you forget that you are looking at a timepiece. Which, at that point, shouldn't you just invest in one of their bracelets?
Sorry about the slightly blurry image, this watch was a pain to get a pic of, and I couldn't tell I didn't get a good pic until it was too late. Still, you can tell that this is a really cool "phantom" style all black watch. This is the TX Pilot ref. T3C423 watch from TX's 600 Series watches. The watch has a quartz flyback chronograph as well as a second time zone. You also get the case and a rotating slide-rule bezel. The watch is probably about 45mm wide and is really cool looking. You can tell that the dial is deep and easy to read despite the black tones. People will want to know what that big black watch on your wrist is. All the detail on the dial make it quite intriguing. Still, the functionality is simple and you get used to the look of the dial with ease. It is matched with a black leather strap and retails for 5. For some people this is the best TX watch in their lineup.
We talk about pick-up artists and how watches are used in that artistry. A Franck Muller .7 million watch, currently the world's most complicated watch. We talk about a minimalist chronograph and Tokyo Flash. Ariel likes a new Jean-Baptiste Viot and we discuss, along with Thomas Prescher's new Tempusvivendi Qatar Watch.

Seiko has a few hand engraved watches as well. Seiko has a few in-house engraving masters that have developed techniques that beat those of the Europeans. Only difference is that some of the designs are pretty traditional Japanese. So now Seiko needs to take those skills, and apply some more globally appealing designs. The techniques that Seiko uses require engraving tools made by Seiko that are more precise, cut better, and result in a much better polish and clean look to the polishing. It is quite remarkable. A beautiful gold Seiko watch all hand engraved with a manufacture movement will run about ,000 as I understand. You’ll never find a similar Swiss watch at this price.
Looking at the watch from the side you can tell that the crystal is convex a bit which gives it a nice look. Still, it is AR coated for a clear view into the face. The dial is laid out well - though it has a unique look. This was likely a tough task. Arabic numerals for the hour markers are covered in lume so thick they pop off the dial. The chronograph dials are easy to read and I appreciate the wealth of marks on those subdials. You also get the red framed date window that looks nice with a date disc that is black to match the dial of the watch. No doubt that this watch is totally an aviator in fashion. The thick leather strap has the iconic rivet screw on each band with white contrast stitching. There is also an available metal bracelet which I suspect is Tutima signature style with many little links.

Ezteem is a new Swedish watchmaker (from 2005) and the model I review here (Lynx Aqua) is their current offering for divers and desk-divers alike. I was intrigued by the brand since I haven't handled a lot of Swedish watches before and Sweden is known for great design. So I expected a lot from them.
Another part of enamel work is the various type of engraving that is involved. Engraving the metal substrate before the enamel is applied is called "Champlevé," which is a very common type of enamel work done on watch dials. There each area that is engraved must be baked separately, but the results can be beautiful. There are other types of engravings that can be done. This can be manually done with tools, or via acid solutions. I don't specifically know whether engravings take place before or after the enamel is baked - or during both times.
The good part is the Eterna has reserved this model as something affordable. Inside is a Sellita SW200 automatic mechanical movement. This is essentially a clone of the ETA 2824-2 movement. The solid movement is hardy, but not too expensive. I imagine this watch will run for between ,000 - ,000 (retail is 2,200 euros) when it is released soon. Plus, there will be over a dozen different versions given all the dial colors and strap options.
The Marina Chain Collection Watches by Gucci are priced depending on the metal and whether or not diamonds are included, but break down as approximately ,300 for the solid 18 karat Yellow Gold version - ,095 for the 18 karat Yellow Gold and Stainless Steel Version - and ,915 for the simply Stainless Steel version. Available in two sizes - Small ("Large" at 33mm x 43.2mm) and Even Smaller (Or just "Small" at 26mm x 35mm), this is still a very dainty watch. And with several different options for diamonds, you can order a Marina Chain Watch to truly reflect your own style.

The complex process of making them black is worth it. Each of these images I took of the watches pretty well indicate how good they look. I met with Project X Designs founder and owner Daniel Bourn recently to discuss the creation and what is involved. It is amazing to me the level of interest they get from high profile individuals. The ability to get a customized Rolex is seemingly a dream for many. What I had before me were a few of the DLC black Rolex watches they make. I spent an awful lot of time inspecting them with detail and was impressive with Daniel's meticulous knowledge of what goes into each watch and the challenges thereof. Anyone who would think to compete with Project X must realize that they are in store for years of trial and error to get things right - assuming that they can even get the right people or equipment to do it.
